A Brief Summary of Hogwarts

The four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry are:

Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff wizards value hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. They are reserved and down to earth. Their house color is yellow and black and house animal is badger.

Hufflepuff was founded by a medieval witch Helga Hufflepuff. The head of the house was Pomona Sprout and the Fat Friar was the house’s patron ghost.

Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil.” – The Sorting Hat

Gryffindor

Gryffindor wizards are bold, brave, passionate and have a high sense of wrong and right. Gryffindor house colors are scarlet and gold and house animal is lion.

It was founded by Godric Gryffindor. The house ghost is Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, also known as, Nearly Headless Nick

Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw members are characterised by their wit, learning, and wisdom. Their house colors are blue and bronze and emblematic animal symbol is an eagle.

It was founded by the medieval witch Rowena Ravenclaw.  The house ghost was her daughter Helena Ravenclaw also known as the Grey Lady. The Head of Ravenclaw was Filius Flitwick.

Where those of wit and learning,

Slytherin

Slytherin wizards characteristics included cunning, resourcefulness, leadership, and ambition. The house’s colours were green and silver and the emblematic animal was a snake.

It was founded by Salazar Slytherin. There were two notable heads of the house; Horace Slughorn took the role twice (first leaving in 1981 and then taking the role again from 1997 until leaving before 2016), and Severus Snape. The patron ghost of the house was the Bloody Baron.
